The Championship merged with League One in 2026 and expanded to 21 teams. Due to Featherstone Rovers not participating (read below) the competition will consist of 20 teams.
Bradford Bulls, Toulouse Olympique & York Knights were promoted to the Super League
Featherstone Rovers have not been granted RFL membership for 2026 amid their ongoing financial issues, and will now not form part of the Championship in 2026
The Salford Red Devils club was liquidated at the end of 2025 and have been replaced by a new team called Salford RLFC
